Trump ordena revisar las modificaciones en los protocolos aéreos y las contrataciones realizadas bajo Biden
Washington, 30 Jan (EFE).- United States President Donald Trump enacted an executive order this Thursday to review the hiring processes and protocol changes implemented during Democrat Joe Biden’s term (2021-2025), following suggestions that these might have caused yesterday’s plane crash in Washington.
The order also requests to “undertake the necessary corrective actions to ensure unyielding air safety, including the replacement of anyone who fails to meet qualification standards.”
“This review will comprise a systematic evaluation of any decline in hiring standards as well as aviation safety standards and protocols during the Biden Administration,” stated the document.
The request comes a day after a commercial airplane carrying 60 passengers and four crew members collided with a military helicopter having three individuals on board just before landing at Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington. Both crafts crashed into the Potomac River, and authorities, who continue search efforts, have ruled out any survivors.
“American families woke up today without their loved ones after what should have been a routine journey, and the entire nation mourns the loss of the victims. This shocking incident follows questionable and likely illegal decisions during the Obama and Biden administrations that downplayed merit and competence within the FAA,” it noted.
Although the investigators are yet to determine the crash’s causes, Trump pointed to the policies of the Obama (2009-2017) and Biden governments in a press conference this Thursday, attributing the accident to the diversity, equity, and inclusion programs they promoted, which, according to him, diminished the standards in air traffic controller recruitment.
“The Obama Administration implemented a biographical questionnaire in the FAA to shift the focus away from objective aptitude in hiring,” his order highlighted, underscoring that during his first term (2017-2021), he raised the standards.
Trump’s document criticized the Biden Executive for “outrageously rejecting merit-based hiring, demanding that all executive departments and agencies implement dangerous ‘diversity and inclusion equity’ tactics and specifically hiring individuals with ‘severe intellectual disabilities’.”
In his view, Wednesday night’s accident tragically emphasizes the necessity to prioritize safety and competence within the FAA.
